Obviously,cities, almost in every countries,are the most prosperous and attractive places where there is highly developed economy,where there is a sea of skyscrapers and transportation network,where there are well-dressed people living an enviable, decent life.What a harmonious scene!However,someday a considerable number of intruders who are poorly-dressed with shabby beddings come pouring into cities ,spoiling the harmony.It seems that they come from another world ,for they are totally alien to the fast-pacing cities. Thus,with their coming ,a new term-off-farm workers comes into being.What they do is almost the jobs at which most people turn up their nosesbut ,without question, indispensible.In a society where people judge each other in terms of job,they are definitely the grassroot of our society. However,what roots to the blossom of the rose is what off-farm workers to the development of cities. Though root is always neglected,it is by no means of no consequence.Botanically speaking,root plays the role of both laying foundation and absorbing nutrition for the upper part.As is known,no builders no buildings.Builders are very important in the process of the development of cities.No matter how wonderful the designs are, it will be of no difference of fighting on paper if there are no builders.In this aspect,off-farm workers who are physically strong come into their own.Besides,they are also the main force of environment cleaning doing such work as collecting trash,sweeping road and cleaning toilets(almost the most dirty and least-paid ones).In one word, what they do seems to be reserved for them,for they probably the only group who can
endure such jobs.While what they do is like the essential nutrition for the blossom of the rose .
But,when the rose is in full blossom, it ought to be the moment for people to witness the outcome of root’s effort;whereas, people are overwhelmed by the spectacle of the flow without even thinking of the root.Unfortunately,the root is not alone ,for off-farm workers share the similar lot of it.Undoubtedly, what they gain is terribly out of proportion to what they pay.Their salary is just the tip of an iceburg compared with intellectuals.What’s worse,they are an object of prejudice.It’s once reported that a woman refused the seat offered by an off-farm worker because she thought the seat was contaminated by him.What hurting news!Fortunately,they are like the resilient spring that can stand any physical trial,bear any hardship and endure any prejudice.It is their abiding belief that they are the backbone of the family makes them immune to the endless and various waves of setbacks and frustration.All in all,however negligible the root is ,it will never be redundant.

王昕:The most successful part in this composotion is the running metophor that has compared off-farm workers to roots of flowers.This metophor resonates with their status of grassroots.This composition shows us the off-workers living environment and their importantance to the society as well as the treatment they has received now.The description is appropriote and clear.however,the characteristics descriped is a little genenral ,if more specific and tipical description should be added,the whole passage woule be pefect.

This composition is about off-famer workers, the writer mainly focus on the importance of them to the cities, using a metaphor “what root to the blossom of the rose is what off-farm workers to the development of cities.” I don’t think it is appropriate .but generally speaking, it is well written except some spelling mistakes.
