Nowadays people have quoted but changed a little Bacon’s famous saying ”knowledge is power” into “money is power”. I really doubt what most of us agree that money can do everything. For example, can money buy happiness?
We have to admit the vital necessity of money. In some degree, money maintains the development of human civiliazation and financial world. However, there are also too many examples about rich people feeling depressed all day. The reasons vary from individual to individual, but they all indicate a same idea that money doesn’t equal to happiness. I’ve heard a story about a poor man who is so popular around people that everyone is willing to buy him a drink in order to chat with him. Because in peace of mind, he is rich.
Let’s change a way, what is happiness? In my opinion, happiness is a kind of emotion that makes us feel positive and grateful and fully understand the worth of being in the world. The simplest explanation is always smiling, the very sincere smile. Maybe money can buy us a pretention, but that smile is fake. Money can’t buy the real facial expression. Thus, money can’t buy happiness.
