Memorize words

Unit 3 Suitable expressions
While visiting a foreign country, it’s necessary for us to know how to ask for help politely. For example, you may ask “Where are the restrooms?” or “ Pardon me, could you please tell me where the restrooms are?” These two requests for directions are both correct. However, the latter sounds more polite.
As you can see, the former is a direct question. Without doubt, the second expression is a better choice for a good speaker. Good speakers are able to choose and use suitable expressions in different situations. It depends on whom they are speaking to or how well they know each other.
If you say to your teacher, “Tell me your e-mail address”, this might sound impolite. Instead you should say,” Excuse me, Mr. Liu. Could you please tell me your e-mail address?” Our suggestion is that we should spend time leading in to a polite request. For example, if you say “I want to buy some stamps and post the postcards. This week, the subject for our school project was “Useful inventions”. Mr. Lin, our English teacher divided us into three groups and asked us to go online to find information about three useful inventions---tea, telephone and basketball.

Unit 9 My favorite music and films
I prefer to listen to music or watch films in my spare time, especially when I’m down or tired. Smooth music, movies with sadness or fun, when I shut off my brain and enjoy them, I can sense happiness or pain from them, and life seems more beautiful and worthwhile.
I like moving pieces of music. For movies, I have a wider interest. Movies produced by different directors or masters about wars, history, science, family, life… are all my favorites except for scary movies or dramas. I even see a few documentaries. Movies with happy endings are my preferences. Once in a while, sad movies make me recall my own experiences and move me a lot.

今天我看了青少年经典诵读大赛，感触很深，他们的表现太精彩了！而且他们的心理素质特别高，他们反应力很强，真的很令我惊讶。俗话说：“台上一分钟，台下十年功”，他们在台上冷静的说出问题的答案，即使错了，也会迅速地改正，表现了他们良好的心理素质，在总决赛第一轮“初露锋芒”时更是将他们的才能和心理素质表现得淋漓尽致，在第三轮对对联中，冠军刘康宁对的下联竟被评委们称为佳作，更是展示了他们的知识水准。
通过观看比赛，我了解到这次比赛不只比知识，还考验选手们的反应能力，心理素质，品德修养，创造思维还有思维的严谨性，这是一个全方位的比赛，而冠军刘康宁，一路过五关斩六将，她的表现更是不容置疑的。但就像大赛中说的一句话:“能来到这个舞台的都是精英。”这个大赛不仅有助于选手们能力的提高，还使大家更了解经典方面的知识，提高文化素养，传承古典文化。
观看比赛以后，我对经典诵读也有了很大的兴趣，这个比赛以简单的，快捷的方式使大家更好的认识了经典的魅力，但是对于经典的认识，比如四大名著，大家对它们的内容可以说都是知道的，但基本都是看电视才知道的，现在人接触书的机会越来越少，时间都被工作与学习占了，因为手机电视便捷，人们的眼睛是有空就贴在屏幕上，而这个大赛就很好地诠释了诵读经典的好处。

12月30日下午，明德学校举行了迎元旦 “诵读中华经典，营造书香校园”经典诵读比赛。通过诵读中华经典，传承优秀文化，提高师生人文素养，推进学校文化建设。 大赛在主持人文采斐然的开场白中拉开帷幕，参加比赛的班级展示了他们各自的风采。学生们以表演诵、诗配乐、诗组合、诗配舞等多种形式表现经典诗文的内涵，或激昂高亢，或饱含深情，或抑扬顿挫，富有深情地表达着对国家、对自然、对社会、对他人深深的爱与敬。在这辞旧迎新之际，师生献上了一场精彩纷呈、充满活力的经典诗文诵演盛宴。
