篇一:《英国 英语作文》

My Impression of the UK

When people talk about the UK, the first impression may be the old gentleman, traditional, prosperous and strong, or Beckham, Elizabeth and Mr. Bean. Everyone has different impressions of Britain, and I would like to talk about my impression of the Britain.

Britain is a wealthy country, the world's leading power since the first industrial revolution. In the 18th century, Britain is the world's biggest country, while in the early 20th century the situation is different. Though Britain was influenced by the war and a series of factors, the superpower position was replaced by the United States, it is still an influential power in the world. With its developed economy, British people attach great importance to the quality of their life. The Britain's working hours is about 22 hours a week. They have few working hours, so they have much more free time to do whatever they like, for example doing the housework by themselves, doing sports, traveling, reading, writing, listening to music and so on. What’s more British people love pets very much.

English afternoon tea is famous all over the world. British have a 300-years-old history of drinking black tea. Afternoon tea was introduced in England by Anna, the seventh Duchess of Bedford, in the year 1840. They will add sugar and milk in the

black tea, and it is necessary to drink after a meal for British. The UK is the largest

consumption country of black tea. In other words, there is no country that is professional than Britain in tasting black tea. The traditional afternoon tea time is four o'clock in the afternoon, it is commonly known as Low Tea. Traditional afternoon tea consists of a selection of dainty sandwiches, scones served with clotted cream. Cakes and pastries are also served. Tea grown in India or Ceylon is poured from silver tea pots into delicate bone china cups.

The climate of Britain is very comfortable. It is neither hot in summer, nor cold in winter in UK, it is warm and humid. It often rains in Britain, in my impression British always need to take an umbrella wherever they go. Also they will often talk about weather when they meet each other just like we talk about whether the other has had dinner. For British people the sunshine is very precious because there is too much rain all the year round. As long as it is a sunny weekend or holiday, there will be a lot of people lying on the grass in the park or on the beach. The government sets up a special place in every residence community, it can be a park or a piece of green area. In this region, people can take a rest or go for a walk, besides it also offers a place for the children to have fun.

The building of Britain also impressed me very much. The British building is old and very beautiful, it’s the typical classical architecture of Britain. The building has a long history but well preserved, some people say that many British sewers have a history of several hundred years. There are many world famous buildings in Britain, such as St.Paul's Cathedral, Tower Bridge of London, British Museum, Big Ben and so on. Now the British building is a symbol of British culture and their spirit.

Britain is a very beautiful and prosperous country, and I hope one day I can walk in the street of Britain and enjoy the beautiful scenery there.

篇二:《英语作文The UK Education System》

The UK Education System

Education seems to be more and more important in the new century and an education system can influent it a lot. As we all know UK is a country which pays much attention to the education and its education system is some different from ours. While the education and training systems of England, Wales and Northern Ireland are broadly similar, which attach importance to some alternative courses, the education system in Scotland has always been a completely separate system with its own laws and practices. I will introduce you the former one as follows.

The education system in the UK is divided into four main parts, primary education, secondary education, further education and higher education. What’s more, children can choose a state school for free or a private school which is paid by your parents. Even though 7% students choose a private school. But whatever they choose, they have to legally attend primary and secondary education which runs from about 5 years old until the student is 16 years old. While after that students can either extent in to further education or go to work.

Primary and secondary education in the UK is just like our Primary School and Middle School education which is also mandatory. Primary education begins in the UK at age 5 and continues until age 11. It seems that their study is easier and more relaxed compared with ours. From age 11 to 16, students will enter secondary school to start their move towards taking the GCSE. After five years of secondary education, students take exams in a range of subjects at the level of General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE). The GCSE is a single subject exam set and marked by independent exam boards. Students usually take up to ten (there is no upper or lower limit) GCSE exams in different subjects, including mathematics and English

language. Students are given a letter score of A-G where A is the top grade. A,{uk的作文}.

B or C grades are regarded as equivalent to the 'pass' grades in the previous GCE exam, known as O-Level.

After taking GCSEs students may leave secondary schooling, may go on to further education. Just as it’s called Further education can be seen as preparing for the umiversities or colleges. Once a student finishes secondary education they have the option to extend into further education to take their A-Levels, GNVQ's, BTEC's or other such qualifications. Students can go either Academic Route or Vocational Route. Students who go on to further education colleges should pass the GNVQ’s and those who want to enter universities should take a higher level of secondary school exams known as 'A-Levels' (typically in 2-4 subjects) after a further two years of study, which are required for university entrance in the UK. So UK students planning to go to college or university must complete further education.

The UK has a vast variety of higher education opportunities to offer students with over 100 universities offering various degree programs for students from the UK and around the world. In the UK most undergraduate degree programs take three years to finish; however, the “sandwich course” is increasing in popularity, which is four years and involves one year in the work places. After your graduation you can get your master degree, which can be divided into BA-Bachelor of Art, BSc-Bachelor of Sciense, BEng-Bachelor of Engineering and LLB according to your major. It does’t mean that their education cannot continue any moer and after that they can go further, for example they can struggle for the Maser degree even the Doctorial degree.

That’s the UK education system

The UK in My Eyes

The United Kingdom has approximately 3000-year-old history, consequently, having its own culture, custom and language. Britain went through from steady feudal dynasty to the empire on which the sun never sets, eventually becoming one of the most important countries all over the world. What a great history change that we cannot believe even today! However, just due to her rugged development makes this old as well as modern country full of the breath of mystery. As we all known, England is well-known for its prestigious universities such as Oxford and Cambridge. Oxford University has over 800 years old and so does Cambridge University. All of these make this ancient country more attractive to appeal people to visit!

Moreover, England is an island which is mostly made of hills and has oceanic climate , whose environment is pretty charming. As far as I am concerned, if you were a person who is the first time arriving at this island country, the first and deepest impression England would give you is everywhere covered by the color of green, tall and dense woods and wide grassland, what makes the air really fresh to breathe! English living circumstance is particularly graceful too. Their houses always have two or three floors with beautiful and charming flower garden surrounded by green thickets. What I have to say is that they have very strong awareness of protecting the environment. They divide the trash into different places.{uk的作文}.

For instance, usually the majority of residents have three different color dustbin for different usages, and the government will cope with the garbage at regular intervals. Their hygienic habits are surely excellent! In English, it is absolutely difficult for people to see the rubbish or pieces of papers threw about. In public, there is no doubt that everyone will use tissue to cover their mouth for coughing or sneezing. Especially, what deserves us to talk about is English smoking ban and smoking restriction. According to English laws, it forbids people to smoke everywhere in school including all kinds of indoors, otherwise, people will be punished by law. What’s more, government also appeal people to smoking less or not by printing shocking and frightening pictures and words to disseminate the harm of smoking.

In addition, the United Kingdom is a constitutional monarchy country under the rule of law, everything executes in accordance with law. Only if you don’t go beyond the rules of law can you enjoy enormous freedom. Englishmen have strong awareness of law, they pay much attention to protecting the circumstance and abide by traffic laws and public order. As a consequence, English public security is about good. The UK also especially lays emphasis on the protection of intellectual property, the protection of juveniles as well as the protection of cultural relics and historic sites.

As far as the national traits, Englishmen are born with conservation{uk的作文}.

so that they fairly respect others, therefore, they reserve quiet a number of ancient buildings, cultural relics and a variety of museums. As a result, it has glorious and long history. One of the most impressive cities for me is the capital of the UK, London. London is a city which is famous in the whole world! It is the centre of finance, culture, art and education and the host city of the World Summer Olympic Games in 2012. She has a long history which has so many scenic spots and historic sites, world-class museums, art museums and outstanding buildings, which attracts a mass of tourists from home and abroad to visit Britain. She has colorful culture and education life and numerous world-famous universities. The advanced transportation makes subways, trains and buses connected into a net spreading all over the every corner of the city. English big cities, especially London, enjoy a widespread reputation for their beauty, charm and the good protection of parks. For example, Hyde Park, St. James’s Park and Green Park, these royal London gardens, are on behalf of highest level of European garden art. Not only that we can see beautiful designed and well-protected gardens for public entertainment and relaxation.

Englishmen’s gentility absolutely deserves its reputation! British noble obsession of hierarchy is quiet serious and it has lots of unnecessary and overelaborate formalities. The majority of English gentlemen are the people who have careers. And furthermore, gentlemen

seem like more to communicate with gentlemen, just as a saying goes"Birds of a feather flock together", so that family background and education always become the determinant of a person whether can turn into a gentleman. What most impressive things for me: In Britain, while you are walking on the busy streets, you almost cannot hear the sound of cars’ trumpet, drivers usually do not honk the horn. And if pedestrians want to cross the road, they will stop and let you go first, full of gentility. Englishmen also count on their own children’s cultivation, they make their kids arrange their own businesses when kids are very little and response themselves, having strong awareness of independence, the children who will go to college always make a living by themselves for tuition. One the contrary, in China, children don’t have the chance to escape from the parents’ arrangement, it is fairly difficult for them to get mature through do many social practice and speciality cultivation. Giving children a rather open space and focusing on the cultivation of their human behavior and social responsibility is the demanding and hope of Englishmen for the next generation.

Last but not least, there is a long way for us, our county, to go. There is a common proverb,"We should learn from other’s strong points to offset our weakness."There are so many things for us to learn from the UK, because we still in the primary stage of socialism, national capabilities are not strong enough, not all of the people are well-off, our

construction needs scientific program, we should have long-term insight and lay emphasis on quality. In order to improve citizen quality, we should sufficiently realize the importance of improving citizen quality. Everything starts with little things, starts from ourselves, starts from our sides, starts from children. At the meantime, we should avoid the shady face of Britain, like the gap between the rich and the poor, the phenomenon of women smoker, unsuitable diet leading to obesity, some bad juveniles and so on. In the end, I’m with the view that the UK is a brilliant country for us to learn more than its shady aspect. And that is the reason why Britain is one of world powers. So that is the UK in my eyes!

Game of Thrones

——The right`s change of British

And the development of parliament

The United Kingdom is an ancient country with long history, and my story is begin with William the Conqueror became the first Norman King of England.

The first part: John Lackland and the Great Charter

After Normans become the king of England. The power of the king is growing, to the 11th and 12th, the king`s power peaked. However, when John king come to the power, thing had changed. There are sever things which made John became the worst king in British`s history. First, he tried to seize the throne when Richard the Lion was imprisoned in Germany. Second, someone doubted that he{uk的作文}.

murdered his nephew Arthur in order to get the throne. Then the most important things was that he was beaten by French army and lost the land of Norman, and for all of these things made him lost the support of the people. By the meantime, John also broke feudal custom and took more taxes, he even confiscated his minister`s property. To the city, he also blackmail so many wealth and caused widespread discontent.

When it came to the 1215, some nobleman united London`s citizen and

conquered the city. They hostage John the King and forced him accepted Articles of the Barons. In this case, king John had no choices but to allowed what those nobleman want. So John signed The Great Charter in Runnymede on June 15th.

The Great Charter greatly limited the king's rights, though it changed for many times, some of its basic principles have been preserved. For example, it provides that the king can not occupy the land of the nobility. All of this made the

power of the king been limited and provided the opportunity for the emergence of capitalism. The throne was not only mastered by the king like China. This is the first part, king and noble`s game of throne, it is clearly that king lost some of his power and those nobleman win this game.

The second part: the death of Charles I and western bourgeois revolution With the development of British`s economic and production, The United

Kingdom had became one of the most powerful countries at the mid of 1700s. The number of the capitalist class grown so fast and the urge a well policy for their develop. However, after Charles I came to power, things were turn to worse. He plundered money and still be a law onto himself, he even disbanded the

parliament for which tried to stopped him from doing such things. On the other hand the king levied all kinds of exorbitant tax levies and caused a lot of people out of work.

For all of these things the capitalist class, farmers and workers united with the parliament try to overthrow the king. They played a total of two wars, under the leadership of Cromwell, they finally beaten the king`s army and put Charles I in jail. Soon,Charles I was beheaded by Cromwell.

After Cromwell killed the king, he become the leader of British and called “Lord Protector”. The policy good for nobleman and the capitalist class. But because Cromwell greed for power, he disbanded the parliament again and grasped at authority by himself until he died. And the county still in mess.

Although the revolution did not acquire the final success, the people still seen the power of parliament and the new class, this trade wouldn’t stop until a whole political are built. And this also started a new page of the history of British.

The third part: the glory revolution and The Bill of Right

After the died of Cromwell, the whole country still in mess. Just in that time, the son of Charlie I--Charlie II restoration of a dethroned monarch and gradually taken back king’s thrown.

1685, Charlie II died without any child and his brother James II come to

power. He put down some rebellions on the early year’s of his rule time. However, on 1688, Archbishop of Canterbury and six other bishops quested James cancel the low of religious freedom. James was so anger about this and he arrested the seven bishops and announced then death but jury rejected it. On June 10th he became father but people didn’t wanted a Catholicism Dynasty. So a part of nobleman invited James’ son-in-law, William III came to British to protect the country’s religious, freedom and economic. William landed Tor Bay on Nov fir, 1688. And went to London without any resist and James II decamped to French.

1689, William announced to became the new king of British, at the meantime, the parliament asked William signed up The Bill of Right, a low which in order to limited the power of king. The greatest significance is clearly replaced the thrown of king by the law, and the parliament finally get the thrown. On the other hand The British established the bourgeois rule of the constitutional monarchy. From then on, the king of the United Kingdom is more likely a significance of the

country rather than the leader of it. A new political was built, which made British became the most powerful country sever years ago.

Epilogue

When a game of thrown happened, there must have someone win and others lost. But the main trend of history’s develop can not changed by any single man. This is the story of British’s game of thrown, a story of country’s development and rise abruptly.
