英语“我的中国梦”征文比赛获奖二等奖作品2篇

“When I was young and free and my imagination had no limits, I dreamed of changing the world. As I grew older and wiser, I discovered the world would not change, so I shortened my sights somewhat and decided to change only my country.

But it, too, seemed immovable.

As I grew into my twilight years, in one last desperate attempt, I settled for changing only my family, those closest to me, but alas, they would have none of it.

And now as I lie on my deathbed, I suddenly realize: If I had only changed my self first, then by example I would have changed my family.

From their inspiration and encouragement, I would then have been able to better my country and, who knows, I may have even changed the world.”

The words above were written on the tomb of an Anglican Bishop in the Crypts of Westminster Abbey.

The “Chinese Dream”, advocated by president Xi, is a dream not only of the whole nation, but also one that consists of our countless personal dreams.

As the famous host Rui Chenggang said in his Weibo, “One world, several billions dreams; One China, more than one billion dreams. Every Chinese person has freedom, space and chance to pursue their unique dreams. Put them together, and it is exact a great Chinese Dream.”

As for me, I feel ashamed that I’m not ambitious enough to have a great Chinese Dream. But maybe the story of my dream is a part of the great Chinese Dream.

To be frank, I’m not a consistent person. At the very beginning, Admiring the flowers and applause for the hosts, I want to be one of them. But after taking part in a related competition, I was frustrated and gave it up. From then on, to get good grades is the only thing I take care of. Until one day, my dad asked, “What do you want to do in feature?” My mind was blank and I had no idea. I have so many interests, such as singing, drawing and playing table tennis. But what do I really want to do? I asked myself from time to time.

Gradually, as I could understand English grammar easily and could get great English grades, I got more interested in English. I admired the Foreign Ministry spokesman’s ability to make immediate response during the press conference; I was encouraged by the lecturer’s wonderful speech; I was attracted by the English actors’ performance. I know what I want to do—to be an interpreter. I like speaking English, listening to English and all the things related to English. During my high school, Beijing Foreign Studies University was my ideal university, and each of my friends knew that. But I failed finally. However I still choose English major and will never forget my dream.

Everyone who insists his or her dream all the time no matter how difficult, hopeless it is is respectable. Thanks for my families and friends who protect my dream so that I could pursue what I dream of and give up what I dislike. I’m on the road to achieve my dream.

Chinese Dream consists of everyone’s dream. Instead of minding my dream so small, I’m proud that my dream is a part of the great Chinese Dream. For dreams, everyone gets more beautiful and our country gets more hopeful.

Everyone has a dream. It can be big, can be small, can be visional, and can be actual. Nowadays, chairman Xi raised the topic “China Dream”, which becomes a new round of buzzword. It attracts so many people’s attention. China Dream can be interpreted on two levels. On the national level, it is a common dream of the Chinese national people that means, “rejuvenation, improvement of people’s livelihoods, prosperity, construction of a better society and military strengthening” as some analyst said. On the individual level, it is something unique to each Chinese citizen. All the individual dreams will converge to realize the common China Dream. And each individual China Dream is no less important than the common China Dream.

As a university student, my China Dream is simple but hard to achieve. That is to build a clean society without corruption. No matter it is in politics, business, or philanthropy and so forth. Some people feel corruption is like cancer, and it’s an incurable disease. Corruption can cause very terrible consequences. Not only can it reduce the government’s credibility in the public mind, but also can it slow down the speed of the society’s development. In the history, each period that was with the least corruption was prosperous. In the world, those developed countries have the cleanest government and society, such as Holland and New Zealand. If we want our country to become a powerful one and our people live a really happy life, corruption must be tackled and eliminated. So how we should overcome it is a really serious question.

Even though some people argue that in everyone country corruption exists to a larger or lesser extent. I believe it is curable and we must fight it with utmost strength. I have three suggestions: number one, we should build a legal-binding society. Anyone who commits corruption shall be punished severely according to the related law. Number two: the media must exercise its supervision function. In the west, many corruption cases were uncovered by the media, for example, the Watergate Scandal Modern have assumed the function of revealing people’s demand and supervising the government for the people. In the W.S, it was just due to the persistence of the reporters that the truth of the case could be finally uncovered. Number three: the awareness of citizenship should be enhanced. We have a responsibility for the development of the society. So if we find any corruption, we should have the courage to speak it out to the media, and report to the relevant departments. We can never submit to the evil force, keep struggling with it.Only if every citizen wholeheartedly join it, can we get a steady achievement.

All the above measures are my personal suggestions, but I sincerely hope one day the dream that there will be no corruption in our country can come true.
